Single best answer (SBA) questions were recently introduced in the undergraduate and postgraduate curriculums of medical schools in many countries of the world.
- Morgan & Mikhail’s Clinical Anesthesiology Cases 1st edition 2020
- Surgical and Medical Treatment of Osteoporosis: Principles and Practice 1st Edition 2020
The students find this relatively new method of assessment more difficult than the true/false multiple choice questions, especially because there are very few books and model questions available to them. This book is methodically arranged into 19 chapters and contains 214 questions with answers and explanations. Each chapter begins with a summary of the basic clinical principles used to formulate SBA questions. This book covers the entire syllabus and is not a mere collection of questions. The main aim of compiling this book is to help medical students face the final year examination with confidence, as they can practice answering diverse questions from every part of the syllabus. My intent is to provide a complete guide for study, examination practice and self-assessment.
To my knowledge there is no book in the international market with a large collection of standard SBA questions in obstetrics and gynaecology, with detailed explanations for the answers, which focuses on the relevant theory as well. I have followed the Guidelines of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the NICE Guidelines. Therefore, it is suitable for students in many countries around the world. Even though the main target readers are medical students, it can be used as an aid for rapid revision, by postgraduate students preparing for the doctor of medicine in obstetrics and gynaecology—part 2 (Sri Lanka), MRCOG (UK), and other international postgraduate examinations.
